Service Provider.
Service providers now have the opportunity to create an open marketplace using GridEcon 1.0 components which allows all types of resource providers, from banks to smaller organisations, to trade with new and existing consumers.
Trader
GridEcon 1.0 allows the trader to sell their excess computing resources on the GridEcon market place. Furthermore, using the same interface the trader can continually monitor the marketplace in order to identify the optimum time for buying their required computational resources.
Developer
GridEcon 1.0 gives prospective developers a springboard to creating the next generation of Grid Computing marketplace. Get involved in the ‘paradigm shift’ from the existing model of direct trade between resource provider and resource consumer to the revolutionary new ‘open marketplace’ model where all types of providers and consumers trade via the GridEcon marketplace. Developers can take a fast-track approach to entering this field by utilizing the existing, rigorously developed and fully functional, GridEcon Marketplace and expanding and enhancing it as required. The GridEcon architecture, employing a modular approach, includes the following core components:
•Workflow Engine;
•Market Place Component;
•Execution Engine;
•History Component;
•GridEcon GUI;
•Monitoring Component.
Each of these components can be enhanced, adapted, replaced or in some cases removed according to the marketplace in development. Powerfully, the existing core components can be augmented by the addition of new components to provide new ‘Value Added Services’.
Developers have the opportunity to participate in the evolution of GridEcon and to shape the future of Cloud resource trading by getting involved in the GridEcon project now.

Introducing GridEcon 1.0
GridEcon 1.0 is an extensible component-based system that delivers a trading place for grid resources, which can easily be further developed into a commercial product.
Built on an innovative marketplace algorithm, GridEcon 1.0 intelligently matches a particular request for resource against all the resources which are available on the marketplace at that a particular time. The matching algorithm takes into account:
•the quantity of resource units;
•the period of time over which the resource is required or available;
•the minimum selling price or the maximum buying price;
•the expiry date of the request to buy or sell resource.
GridEcon 1.0 can deliver many benefits to a number of different users...
GridEcon 1.0 has evolved the interaction between resource buyers and resource sellers, who today are solely large scale blue chip organisations such as Amazon and Microsoft.
